Peter's Sorrow
I cried a thousand tears today.
My heavy head, it fell in shame.
“Father, why?” He wearily prayed,
as watchers mocked His holy name.
Where do we go from here my friends?
I cried a thousand tears today.
When will despair come to an end?
His body torn, I’ll see always.
“It is finished”, I heard Him say.
Sure as the rooster crowed, I’m lost.
I cried a thousand tears today
for Jesus hanging on the cross.
Three days from now, I’ll see his face
as I repent for sinful ways.
My burden’s lovingly erased.
I cried a thousand tears today.
