One Long Last Look

The moon shimmied up her pole in the sky Winking at me with her crescent eye The stars danced in time to a silent tune As the season ended that started in June O, one long last look at summer's constellations Before they surrender to Fall's deportations And the heavens assign them to regions distant As brisk winds whisk them away in an instant September 22, 2020 Completely Your Choice (#15) Poetry Contest Sponsor: Brian Strand

I remember a poem from years ago, that came to mind when I read your poem, "Two things can tear my heart in two, moonlight on still pools and you" Moonlight is on my list of ten of my favorite things. It is so beautiful, I love its soft light, especially on the water at night. Oh my, that was an unintentional rhyme, funny. Your poems are so motivating. :)

I laughed when i got to the line "Winking at me with her crescent eye" yet you pull the reader right back in with a most romantic and nostalgic poem. A delightful read ~ so glad to have it included in the 2020 PS Anthology, Gershon ~

It snowed here a couple of weeks ago. We kind of missed fall but it sounds lovely. Well done my friend. Stay frosty.

Thank you so much, John... And, yes, you are right: Moses' son's name was Gershom. (The 'm' and 'n' in this name are interchangeable; it's a grammatical idiosyncracy in Hebrew, which only applies in certain cases). The name means: "I was a stranger there" (in Egypt, as Moses was certainly a stranger in Pharaoh's palace). Thanks again, Gershon

I read your earlier reply to my comment, GW. Take heart, for it wasn't the moon that gave you the N/A.
