When day turns to night, and everything’s alright A black hole grows inside a halo of light Predicted by man, he done the math just right You see my connection, we’re ever so bright More than middle men, between the gods that fight Still their halo won’t fit us, wish as we might

This short poem is brilliant. You are quite right to say that 'the eclipse is an inspiration and brings a clarity to the human conscience,' but as you say in your poem, we know nothing really the wealth of knowledge lies in the skies But scientific technology managed to even get us into through the moment of totality ,how awesome is that. Kudos David - an awesome write. Hope you are keeping well. Blessings my friend, Jennifer

Heya Jennifer great to hear from you, I’m on a little break from the soup at the moment, hopefully get back writing soon, indeed the skies hold most of the secrets of reality, and is very reluctant to give them up, so it’s up to us to try tease them out using our consciousness, hope you’re keeping well! Cheers David

This little poem manages to be both witty and meaningful at the same time. I guess the eclipse makes us all think about the nature of our world and ourselves. Well done.

Thank you Katharine, I do like to put a little wit into my poems, sometimes to my own detriment, hopefully this one found some balance, just like that perfect moment of totality, I honestly find hope and connection in the cosmos, the eclipse is an inspiration and brings a moment of clarity to the human conscious, cheers David

Hail, hail, your 'gang' was all here. What opens the black holes we try to avoid in the darkness? Are we blinded by the desire to be worthy of a halo that leads us to enter unknown realms of thought, those inner sanctums that we were never meant to approach? I ponder the sense, or senseless naivete' that we should assume to be bright enough to walk in the light of understanding. I didn't mean to dive so deeply into my remarks, but I'll blame it on the weather today. Hugs.

Heya Lin, I’m actually surprised this one got so many comments, perhaps we’re all still under the influence of the eclipse, The guy under the halo above probably thinks he knows everything and is holier than thou, but reality as you point out is so different, the truth is, I know nothing for certain other than what I experience and see, which in turn leads me postulating and pondering all possibilities of cosmic existence; Don’t mention the weather, I don’t think I’ve ever witnessed so much rain in my life, we seem to be measuring it in days now rather than hours lol! It’s true, thanks for stopping by, cheers David

Hello David, your words capture the intricate dance between light and darkness, between certainty and uncertainty. I loved the imagery of a black hole within a halo of light is both striking and profound, symbolizing the complexity of existence. Despite our brilliance, we remain humble despite cosmic forces beyond our control. Your poem contemplates the mysteries of existence and our place within it of the beauty and fragility of life's balance. - Blessings, Daniel

Heya Daniel, its actually pretty amazing the similarities between the opticals of a solar eclipse in totality, and the black hole simulated graphics, I believe human consciousness has an absolute role to play in this universe linking the cosmic and quantum scale together, and the balance somehow figured itself out, of course this is just an agnostic view, as indeed my poem is, thank you so much for sharing your wonderful thoughts today, cheers David

We should question everything and anything, the answers are out there, I often wonder is mankind looking in the right place. (I see Peter Higgs passed away yesterday, when his theory was confirmed he struggled with all the fame that went with it) He never gave up looking though. Tom

I agree Tom, if the world has or indeed the universe has nothing to hide, then it won’t mind us asking questions, I didn’t know mr Higgs passed away, imagine he predicted his boson over 50 years ago, by doing the math, but at least he lived to see his work recognised and corroborated by scientific experiment, thanks so much for stopping by, cheers David

Sometimes it's interesting to play with pauses. I am currently enjoying line one likes it an M&S advert for a chocolate cake. I'm soothed. You should market that... Then I'm in the thick of it recognising that the more we know the more discontent we feel. Surely it's easier to remain naïve? An interesting take on the eclipse and the other side - whether literal or a step into the (un)known. A great one to ponder (my forté!). I'm going to fave too :)

I’m honestly blown away by the faves this one is getting, maybe we’re still under the influence of yesterday’s eclipse, or yummy M&S chocolate I just finished off one of their Easter eggs earlier, (it’s true), I know what you mean it’s easier to remain naive, but we’d still be in the trees, or dark ages if we didn’t push ourselves to question what lies beyond, thanks so much Dilly, cheers David

Camus argues it’s impossible for us to find a satisfying answer to the question of the meaning of life, any attempt to impose a meaning on the universe will end in disaster, as whatever meaning we pick will be sent up later. We find ourselves perpetually pushing our metaphorical boulders uphill, only to watch them roll back down, compelled to start anew. You either except the absurdity of life or you opt out—ouch where I took my interpretation. Interesting concepts of the halo-eclipse, David faved, like sweet Pangie

Heya Anaya, Camus is probably right, but then again he must be tested, and boundaries need to be pushed, it’s part of the human condition, never accept the absurdity or opt out, keep searching you will find answers even if only in the abstract for now, yeah I’m a real Sisyphus but on each rotation I’m wearing that bolder down, thank you so much for another Fave, I’m honestly not worthy of them, cheers David

Thanks so much Pangie I appreciate you stopping by and delighted to be coronated with a Fave lol! Nicely put! My true aim is not to deliver darkness, but to question it, and see what its actually trying to hide, cheers David

We all fall short of the glory of everything it seems. Even scholars educated beyond their ability to think. "We are all but the sum of our prejudices we've learned by the time we turn eighteen" These days we learn more and more about less and less until we'll know everything about nothing. Always enjoy your musings. Robert

Good to hear from you Robert, your comment reminds me of working class hero by John Lennon, the brain washing by those holier than thou, that went on in this country was truly shocking, but hey! at least the scientists got the eclipse bang on yesterday, I’ve learned just to believe what I see, and then double check just to be sure, cheers David
