some old thoughts stay in my mind
like
the way you used to kiss me
i can still feel the soft touch of your lips
all these years and you are still here-
we met for coffee with an odd strange shyness
and i loved you
my poems became full of love metaphors
we became like one
walking hand in hand as the breeze pushed us
on
looking for a place to sit and talk
i liked those early days
when life had not yet touched the beauty of our love
I found your empty shoes (black socks inside)
hidden in the back of our closet
they screamed at me
as i held them weeping waiting
for your kiss
that day
as they lowered your coffin in the ground
and the priest said rest in peace
i thought never
will i ever
forget this sorrow until my last gasp in life
scars
of grief are what i have now
heavy chains like anchors holding me
your beauty i will hold within my heart
always but it is time for this girl to fly
i am on a journey all my own darling-
quietly i touch your engraved name
and a tear falls
