In October, the breeze has a way of moving my hair, of tousling it into buoyant curls. It carries with it the fragrance of earth, soft after the washing of the rain and a sweet steady sense of joy. As it dances with the canopies of flame, it alights both eyes and soul, yet more as the feeling of a mother’s lullaby—a comforting delight. Only weeks ago the air was warm and the trees were deep in summer green, the whispering rustle of the leaves only audible once daytime crawled to a halt. Now they are tinged with scarlet and gold, deserting their lofty branches in the gusts that penetrate the fabric of my jacket. I pause, deliberately treading on each leaf just to hear the crunch. Ahead of me a leaf tumbles from its weary branch, twisting and rocking through the crisp air. I stand perfectly still listening for the sound it makes as it joins its brethren on the ground. The crisp air stings my face, and I find myself enchanted.
October whispers etches memories in heart magical embrace October enchants symphony of change surrounds glimpse of nature's art

I received not just a glimpse of natures art! But a whole painting, as i read this profound haibun that left my heart full! I am in awe captivated and mesmerized byt the descriptive diction and flow of your imagery and how uv used autumnal wordplay in such an artistic manner! So lovely! I especially love the opening lines and also how deep is the line about leaf rocking etc. theres a strong meaning that i did feel as i read! Crisp air and whispers of october all so very well delivered! Love ths

The beauty of autumn and the serenity of the october winds, not noisy, but soft are so pleasing. Sup in the beauty of the month to your heart's fill. Unfortunately we don't have a colorful autumn here. The image of the leaf tumbling from its mother branch, twisting and rocking through the crisp air is so eye catching. I love all your haibuns, Sara.

thanks for visiting, Valsa. I'm grateful you found my Haibun pleasing...and your words 'sup in the beauty of the month to your heart's fill' was a lovely phrase. We don't have much fall here in Texas. I wrote this poem remembering the days when I lived and worked in Indiana where I experienced some of the most stunning fall landscapes. Thanks for liking and appreciating my Haibuns, Valsa. Have a wonderful day, Sara

Yes, some lovely times can be had in October when the air has cooled after a very hot uncomfortable summer. I enjoyed reading this one. Sara

thanks for your visit, Ms. Sara. I agree with you. October is delightful. We're finally cooling off significantly here in Texas....down to the 50s. Time to bring the plants inside. Have a wonderful evening, Sara
