Not Forgotten- Victims of the Armenian Genocide

They fell by the way... The old The sick The famished Discarded heaps of humanity. They jumped to their deaths... The beautiful The young The desirable Preferring to die than be ravaged. They marched on.... During the day During the night With no destiny in sight Endlessly enduring... The insults The beatings The rapes The stench of death. They bowed their heads... Their blood soaked the ground Their screams muffled Their anguish stifled Their hearts torn Their hopes murdered. They still march on... Through the wilderness Of our seared consciences Ever searching for a final resting place. Their blood stll cries out... For justice For acknowledgement For restoration For healing. The Armenian Genocide Will NOT be forgotten... By all Armenians By me By God!

HOLY CRAP. I don't get it, Honey. 125 peeps read this and only one comment? This is a deep and thoughtful write and must have been so hard to do. This is what I am asking of others to do, to step into those shoes and look at something so disturbing that it leaves one shell shocked for a long time. (I just learned this year of holodomor and I can not get past it... what people DO to each other) Bless your good heart. My Mother's Eyes better meets my requirements, but this poem moved me deeply. xo

Thanks for reading, Cyndi. I live in an area of the world where people are beheaded all the time. ISIS is on a rampage and has even infiltrated into Lebanon and attacked the army. My brother and sister-in-law carry scars on their faces as they were part of the wounded in the bomb blast that killed the Prime Minister Raffic Hariri...Death is part of life here. You become desensitized. There is only so much of death and dying you can take...Thank you for reading...for caring enough to post a comment. Hugs, my dear. God bless.

Dear Eileen, This is such a powerful write that I had tears in my eyes. This world is full of so much inhumanity that I sometimes wish I had been born in another time, a gentler place -- but perhaps there has never been one. What a terrific write! Love, Carolyn

Oh...and you are the precious soul who left me a comment. Dear Carolyn....bless you. It will be 100 years this April 24...The world has not recognized this atrocity. Some countries have...Not the US. It is sad. Thank you for reading. There are books out...The latest one being The Sandcastle Girls. I have written another poem about this, though it is a fictional write...Through My Mother's Eyes. My mother was not a victim, though they did come to Lebanon as refugees to flee the massacres. Thank you for reading and your kind comments. A better day is coming. There will never be fairness in our world, but the Lord sees everything. Hugs.
