My yo daughter dropped this on me verbatim when I told her that lying ...

My sister once had a dream, that was driving her crazy. It seemed so real, but it was very faint and hazy. She thought it was real but couldn’t remember who. She said, “if I don’t figure this out, what will I do?” I said to her, “I remember it well.” And all the details to her I did tell. It made her happy, she went on her marry way, I felt bad when I remembered better the very next day. Now that she was happy, I didn’t know what I should say. We’d seen the silly thing in a high school play. If I tell her the truth, she’ll be really mad. Is this little white lie really that bad?

It would have hurt your sister if you told her the truth and would have upset you to do so. like many other people I don't like any sort of lives but sometimes a little white lie is the kindest option. I wish you and yours a very Happy Christmas and I hope 2024 brings you a contented, healthy and peaceful life. Take care, Bill. Shirley

I feel that you want to keep your conscience so pure. Over even a white lie you seem to be so concerned. You thought only of helping your sister some how.I have said many white lies to escape punishment from my parents. I appreciate your innocence dear Bill.

If good is intended how can it hurt? You followed your instincts Bill and in some way that is a form of truth. Wishing you and Sara a wonderful Christmas and New Year. SuZ

Lying is bad, sometimes the truth is better, but it seems this time it was important for you to say what you said.. Your poem is a reminder of times when we have to do such things.. Expressed very well as always..

Thanks for your thoughtful comment, my friend. In the moment, it felt right, initially I didn't lie, I truly thought it was me, it was later making the decision not to tell her the truth that weighted on me. Have a good day. Bill

A very pleasant reading on this Thursday morning, Bill. It's a mere mentioning of that mini phrase 'white lie' that the dynamics of its aim was to purpose a genteel aura donning a lucid veil to cover a dire situation to dissipitate, revealing an act of kindness has rendered said situation being null and void with the answer you sought for and did receive, in her smile, and even if the truth became known to her in future hence, she'll know 'twas agape love had manifested in you. Aloha, William

I believe the intention behind the action speaks volumes about your character. I know that such things trouble you, for you dislike deception. But your love and concern for your sister in this situation was a blessing for her. Well done! I appreciate your reflective character, eastside writing bear

Ah white lies are harmless and it is with good intentions youve actually done that and shows how you can calm your loved ones.intentions do matter. I think white lies are sometimes ok. I do that too for my loved ones ones who go through severe anxiety, just so that they can relax a little bit. I love how you tell us your stories and real life experiences through poetry always. Its always more enjoyable to read reality than fiction for me. Pleasure reading this. Sending you and sara light always

Oh my, this is such a creative poem.. Sometimes those 'little white lies" can calm someone's anxiety and remove the darkness hovering on them as the clouds of overthinking then rush away. I can too relate with dreaming about certain things and then not remembering, it makes one restless.. And in that moment, the innocense layered in the heart tends to believe everything.. And those little white lies come as saviours haha, specifically depending on the situation and perspective. Wonderful write!
