When it rains, in her fancy, She used to turn into a child, Kicking water and playing in the puddles. Today when rain has begun pouring down, She can only see the sky weeping its tears, Clouds smearing wet misery on Earth's face. For reasons unknown, Her heart shakes in agony, Like a flower trembling on its delicate stem. Lost in silence and solitude, She throbs with a dull distracting ache. Her mind has now become an abyss, Where darkness has barged in like a marauder, Where monsters of fear are hatched. She feels suddenly thrown into the sea of emptiness, And float ripped by its violent currents, With no life boat in view for her rescue. She knows there is a long way to swim She wonders if she would reach a safe harbor Or get drowned halfway? Behind her, what does she hear? Is it the roar of the Tsunami of grief? ?

A Tsunami of grief! What a dark poem you wrote. I love such poems, but sometimes others prefer the brighter side of life. Personally I love dark poems. Your imagery is in line with your thoughts. Best for a win. Blessings.

Great last two lines. Reads like a good contender to me for the contest. I am sure Brian will enjoy the expressiveness in this one. Thanks for sharing it with us and for dropping by my pages. Sara

Powerful poem....I like the tsunami metaphor for grief at the end. Grief comes in many forms, regrets and things not done...or the loss of a loved one. Loss can feel like a tsunami. Well said. Enjoy your day, Sara

Very interesting and poignant work. Lately I look back, I could have some years left, but today could be my last day -- I'm at that age. I wonder of the roads not taken...did I make the right choice? I look at the world in chaos...with all I have done and tried to do -- it really seems I have done nothing. I don't know that this poem is about depression or more about, reality and justified sorrow. Blessings. I hear you.

You have touched the pain behind depression. Besides meds, one needs love in fighting depression. Nice poem.

I could feel the angst in your words.. A very emotive poem describing feeling very low... Like a flower trembling on its delicate stem.. many will relate to that metaphor... many go through these feelings and you have described so deeply... is it the roar of the tsunami of grief? I guess that is how many will feel.. great poetry..

Quite the poetic description of depression Valsa. Grief upon grief. Memories of happier, carefree times. The rain adding to her pain. Heartbreaking
