You were found face down by a garden wall, It’s still a puzzle what had caused you to fall I saw you twisting and turning in the hospital bed, with a maze of messages trapped in your head The fall resulted in two huge bleeds on your brain, memories lost, you feared you’re going insane We trod short sinuous paths to help you to walk, playing memory games each day when we’d talk Mum is made of strong stuff, determined and plucky, she has got memory issues but in truth we’re so lucky Eleven years have flown by since mum fell in the street, thankfully her health is good, so my world is complete Maze - 10 Word Challenge Poetry Contest Sponsored by A Dear Heart 06/25/20

So good to hear she is okay. Falls can create such damage. I am getting ready to hit the hay. I hope you have a nice day! Blessings xxoo

It is so easy for the elderly to lose their balance and fall; the tragedy is so few of them know to roll when they hit the ground, so too many bones and brains are shattered. Happy to hear you are finally able to give your mother an hug after such a long absence! Aloha! Rico

A dive-bombing pigeon could cause an elderly person to quickly look up, lose their balance, and fall. Unless they roll, they could suffer head injuries as well as broken bones! Aloha! Rico

she was found face down in the street - we have no idea what caused the fall... she was on her way to help in a charity shop bless her, i got to hug her and tell her her bro in law had died and we rang my aunt. wanted to do it face to face with mum not ring her when it happened... we couldnt go to the funeral anyway it was in the UK and our border is closed unless you have to go for an emergency:-( hugs jan xx

I am so lucky to still have her, can't believe it was 2009 since she had her fall many others of her age would not have survived. from today I am able to visit her with no restrictions - at last i can give her a hug after about 14 weeks!:-) hugs jan xx

At that age a fall can be devastating but thankfully she pulled through. It's great news you can now visit without restrictions. Tom

Many would not have pulled through - was so bizarre as dad called to say she'd had a fall and was in hospital and they would get a taxi home - we dashed up to see her she was lapsing in and out of consciousness and her head was swollen like the elephant man - no way was she going anywhere ... she was in there 3 months!

Your journey with your mom is so loving and inspiring - that final couplet brought a tear (as my mother's health is not good) - glad she's such a plucky lady!

not many would have survived the fall - she was SO lucky that it was her short term memory that was affected. she is a remarkable lady such a shame my sister has cut all ties with the family since dad died over 5 years ago. I am so lucky to still have mum and as from today i can visit her without any restrictions!:-) hugs jan xx

Thanks Bob, all things considered she is doing very well, she is a very elderly lady and lives in a care home and up until lockdown I would see her every day. thankfully we are now virus free and I'm allowed to see her for 15 mins once a week but because they know how frequently i visited they let me put my name down for un used slots:-) hope all is good with you:-) hugs jan xx
