Making Friends

The twisted emotions of fear and apprehension of a new friendship, Sometimes causes surging emotions initially. Rejection and hope may both try to control your emotions, As they flow through you and your heartbeat increases. Life is too short to cower and avoid risk, Cease the moment, give it a chance to begin. A smile and hello freely given, Begs for acceptance and cordial reply. Hey, how are you doing? The seeds are planted, Fate may now give growth or death to a new friendship.

Hi Bill, this great poem speaks to me. My daughter is encouraging me to join the senior citizens center in town. So I'll be giving that a try soon. I'm an introverted person, but I need to go. Have a lovely day. ~

Sara and I go on day trips through our Senior Center. They can be a nice change of scenery, and even a little fun sometimes. I'd encourage you to give it a try, Regina. Sara and I are a bit introvertish as we age. I was quite the extrovert, most of my life. Thanks for the nice visit, feel free to Soup Mail either of us if you'd like to chat a little. From the two of us, Bill & Sara

I personally have fear or maybe fear of trusting anyone to get too close as a friend, but still, i end up letting many in, sometimes it is due to our past experiences or our environment that puts such fears within us: but like your words here, life is precious , and fears can destroy many great things that can happen so shall we always remind ourselves to take it easy: very heartfelt and wise poem: so sincerely woven : enjoyed reading this

My openness and naivety were costly in both my youth and in adulthood, but I still think to joy of share moments with others is worth the cost. Fortunately, the abuses I've suffered through have helped me to be a more understanding and forgiving person, as I age. Thanks for the visit and comments, Ink, may your days bring joy to yourself and those you care about. Bill

Hello Bill, I like this poem. Friendship sometimes to grow. It took me several moths when I lived in a town. to make friends with a neighbour across from me. So some friendships take time to grow. My poet friend enjoy your evening. /Darlene\

Bill, your talent as a poet is undeniable, as you have the remarkable ability to weave together words that evoke profound emotions and ignite the imagination. Your poem is not merely a collection of verses, but a portal into a world where emotions run freely and hearts beat in harmony. Your insight resonates deeply within me, for I too have experienced the hindrance of fear when it comes to forging meaningful relationships. It is a delightful piece that captures the essence of human connection.

A delightful and well-constructed poem, dearest Bill. You're right, sometimes I allow my fear to get in the way of establishing any relationship. I timidly go, sometimes. I especially like the line, "rejection and hope" try to control our emotions. Wise words, my poet bear. Well done! your eastside writing bear

You're truly a deep soul who reflects upon life with myriad perspectives and interpretations! I'm in awe of the introspective, thoughtful and self-reflective emotions here, which restrain us from taking the risk and flowing with the energies aligned by the universe, either because of fear of rejection flowing in our heartbeats or due to the terrified hope that ceases to emerge. I definitely loved reading this piece and your words of wisdom, always a pleasure reading your brilliant writes!

Thank you, Hiya for your thoughtful and encouraging comments to my poetry. Many times, we miss out when opportunity presents itself, because of fear of rejections and lack of self-confidence. Life is full of risk and everything living is changing; we need to learn to adjust and embrace changes and others we encounter. Poetry Soup has been blessed by your presence here. Smiles ~ Blessings, my friend. Bill
