Mother, Magical, Words poetry Contest

It was a magical night with full moon in the sky Pointing her finger to the luminous orb on high Mother told her son- “Look at the magical globe”. The child raised his eager eyes towards the sky. Saw the silver disc blazing among the clouds, Sending out pulses of light on everything beneath As he looked on, he saw it inching slowly away. Wide eyed he kept gazing at the globe of light, Sliding over the black cover of speckled brightness And beams of silver kissing on every cloud, And the moon smiling down at him from the heights. From him escaped an excited squeal of delight Felt it was beckoning him in earnest, Inviting him to join in its silent march. Drawn by the flashy glamour of that magical sprite, His eyes were hooked on to its effulgent face. While looking on, the moon disappeared out of sight, Like a culprit vanishing abrupt to escape the cops. The child wanted to reach out to the sky to trace him. Adamant on having one more look, he waited in the dark Until at last his mother had to forcibly drag him in Even at being tucked in bed, she saw a tear suspended, In the corner of his eye glittering like another moon She wished she could through some magic bring the moon back. All she could say to console her sobbing son was- “My babe, don’t cry! Sure he will come tomorrow”!

A very heart touching story you tell us through your poetic words, my dear friend. There is so much longing for the unknown as a child, and so little knowing going on. Bless the mothers of the world that comfort and console those blessed little ones as they grow and mature. Thanks for sharing your poetic gift with us, Valsa. I always enjoy reading your soulful poetry. Smiles ~ Blessings Bill

I was delighted to see you're feeling better and able to write. This poem was soulful and touching. I loved how you described both your mother and your son. Was taken by this verse: Wide eyed he kept gazing at the globe of light, Sliding over the black cover of speckled brightness And beams of silver kissing on every cloud, And the moon smiling down at him from the heights. Beautiful imagery and I felt like I was there witnessing love and joy. Thanks for sharing your beautiful poetic voice!

Dear Valsa its so good to see you write, and this is so soul warming, i really love the opening lines, they drew me in, captivating, something about the moon always leaves me in awe. And this moment you’ve described here with mother and son is so gorgeous. Reminds me of me and my son too. I can see the silver kissing every cloud, and how cute the child innocently wanting to touch the moon: this poem made my heart smile. If this is for the contest, goodluck
