Oh, Luna ... She sticks close to me, Through all times, best-to-worst, For wherever troubles follow me, She's bound to get there first. One eerie night when I was small, She happened on my room, And vowed to always chase away, The darkness and the gloom. Once-a-month she takes a break, And hides behind Earth's veil, For her efforts often leave her Feeling blue or looking pale. So, if for that, (or cloudy nights), Not a sliver can be found, I regard the tides, their ebb and flow, And I know ... she's still around. ~ 1st Place ~ in the "Moon" Poetry Contest, Kevin Shaw, Sponsor. ~ 2nd Place ~ in the "Bring To Life" Poetry Contest, Shadow Hamilton, Sponsor. ~ 1st Place ~ in the "Early March 2018 Standard Any Form" Poetry Contest, Brian Strand, Sponsor.

So real and yet so etheREAL in the same breath, my friend. The sense of the presence of the White Orb, our intimacy with it, as with a close friend---your marvelous write captures it so well. Bravo! (#1, and rising higher all the time! ... Gregory BARDen). Best always, Gershon (#2)

I love the moon and I love this poem, I wrote one about chasing the man in the moon, maybe you would like it. Don't worry I've got many N/A's from that sponsor, you have to pick contests from sponsors who you know appreciate your writing, and enter their contests wink wink! lol

I will have to track it down, John, as I adore the moon AND your writing - sounds like a gem! Thank you for your kind comments, my friend ... we are certainly long-lost siblings, I think! ;-)

Yeah, even when someone is not visible around, you will know they are there by the little other thingies in life :) The cadence of 3 and 4 feet per line works well throughout.

Thanks, Buddy - yes! Those people and things that are truly dependable have more than one way to let us know they're there for us ... that is the foundation for solid relationships. Many metaphors in this one, some just hinted at. Glad you enjoyed it! :-)
