Inspired by this Image from the contest:
I’ve returned to this empty graveyard, looking for you
I also want to find myself, because I am now lost in life
I don’t know how to find my way anymore without you
My tears soak the ground again, as with every visit
I brought your favorite flower, but I hurt even more
Because you can’t see it, touch it or smell the fragrance
A couple old petals fell onto the ground at my feet
Shall I just stand and watch it wilt before my eyes?
Like my weak heart, cracking like the stone of your grave
Like my weak mind, worn down by everything we lost
I stare through blurred vision at the cross on your stone
I am desperate to feel the faith you always lived with
I am sure you are in the light and you are at peace
Surrounded by the abundance of love that you deserve
I don’t know how to live with myself, knowing I waited
To tell you that I love you, then it was quickly too late
You were gone so suddenly, one phone call, only few words
You were supposed to return in one week, then it was never
No goodbye’s, with words that echo in my heart and mind
I must not stay too long because I fear that I will learn
That I came here for nothing and today is just the same
As it has been every year, that I must go on without you
