I've been trying different forms and today it is the Carpe Diem... Just a free verse really..

This one I wrote straight from my mind with very little pause..

A carpe diem poem is a type of poem that urges people to utilize their present time maximally as little is known about the future; many people are scared hence they do not succeed in life. The name of the poem originated in the “odes” which is a series of poems composed by a roman poet Horace.

Carpe diem has been majorly used to encourage and make the readers recognize the power and value of each moment however brief it is as long as it possibly exists. the main feature of this poem is the content and theme, the structure style and language takes the second place, therefore, the main focus is put on the message conveyed.

This poem has no standard way to write it, one can use any meter and rhyme scheme but the easiest way to come up with this kind of a poem is by using the free verse style as it is simple and much easier way because it has got no rules in writing it. The major elements of this poem are death, life and time.

Latin expression that means 'seize the day.' Carpe diem poems have a theme of living for today.

yesterday is a collection of photographic memories tomorrow a whirlpool of uncertainties I'm a faded image in this island of healing trying to control life, but helpless against ambrosial aura of death in an existence of 'what ifs' was I bad, good, or just ugly my father told me to not show emotions, but, today in momentary thoughts, I have the urge to breathe poetry, pondering modern metaphors, analogies free from the irony of oxymoron's of night and day, how moonstones in artless skies could compose singing sunsets hidden behind ash clouds life may not love me tomorrow, yet I know the sky is mine when the violin keeps playing in midst of musical melancholy and the pianist bleeds on ivory keys I'm torn between prophecies and philosophies, where scriptures and scholars cannot ease these vapours of sorrow, as they tell me it's all been said before, but I still want to find the perfect words to reveal my imperfect poetic scars, even if it's the last time it's my amethyst armour, this ink reveals derelict dreams, that once walked under waterfall chandeliers, and I'm still scribbling these simple musings, despite the scorn, cracks of my heart and the wounds from daggers dug deep into my flesh, by those who offered an olive branch or tried to tame my soul among so many friendly faces, I feel so alone, but still I smile, if you knew my heart, shaped like a pearl, you would learn it only wants to illuminate, even in the toughest trials, as adversity has always made my mirror stronger, so you cannot defeat me I am an eagle that soars above the storm, I am rain to my cherished flowers, sunlight to cold hearts, a lamp in darkness, my silence is my shield against torment, so why should I be afraid in the new dawn poets will still write, musicians will still sing and if this was my last message, even at the point of no return, I'll keep hope in a treasure with silver ribbons wrapped around golden dreams, because the music will never stop, glowing in sun-streaked serenades and in its glistening stillness I'll whisper a farewell in warm garnet shades stolen from a rainbow tomorrow you won't be there, so, I'll live for today

Many facets here of sight and scope. Sometimes Fathers love silently as the battles with demons wage. Sometimes they don't till hand reaches from the grave. Mothers, no different. I don't know if you are a daughter or son, but immunity from trials is had for none. You describe that heartfully here, Silent One.

I am reading this and thinking about our existence in the modern world. We do want to enjoy today and make the most of it, yet we also need to plan for when we get old....assuming we make it that far. It's a very strange set of circumstances that our society creates. I am glad you are getting beyond your dad's advice. It is important to say what you feel in this medium. TY!

Carpe Diem seize the day a Latin saying, and so you did. Because 'yesterday is a collection of photographic memories tomorrow a whirlpool of uncertainties'. So true. A great piece dear S1, an outpouring of emotions in every line. Fragile is the frame that holds the Soul in this earthly life but immortal, it will always stay. A fave for sure ...Hugs

A little piece of your heart? Emotions bared? I love it, especially stanza eight. We won't let you be alone. Keep writing and sharing freely among friends. We'll help keep the sharks at bay, even if it costs us

Dear Silent One, your poem is so haunting and every line pierces into our hearts ! "yesterday is a collection of photographic memories, tomorrow a whirlpool of uncertainties" What an arresting opening lines ! Love it, dear friend. Like metal burnt and melted in fire and turned into beautiful vessels, we get hardened and made stronger by the adversities of life. We have resilience..." I am an eagle that soars above the storm, I am rain to my cherished flowers, sunlight to cold hearts, a lamp in darkness, my silence is my shield against torment, so why should I be afraid" You are indeed soaring high over the firmament of poetry. Excellent and soul piercing... Another FAVE for me.

Don't ever dare to eliminate emotions, at least in poetry. A deep poem worthy of you. Did you say simple musings? I like your jokes.

A profound guide to live by, SO. Highly emotive, introspective: --as they tell me it's all been said before, but I still want to find the perfect words to reveal my imperfect poetic scars, even if it's the last time--tomorrow you won't be there, so, I'll live for today--WOW! and A FAVE!

Musings, if you say so. Simple ... no way! Can we ever truly know the heart of another? More likely is we can compare the pain and anguish of another's heart with the anguish we've felt in our own heart, and sometimes the two are alike. I wish I could ease the pain I sense you still feel, my friend. Your thoughts roll drip from your pen like a near frozen faucet, slowly but continuing until the purpose is fulfilled. The key to peace within, lies within and in living one day at a time. Bill

Hello! Thank you for commenting on my first poem on this platform. I would just like to say that your poetry makes me imagine each and every word from the beginning to the end. It's like cinematography but in words, so you're practically creating movies. I still have a lot to learn and would love feedback. I look forward to reading more of your poems!

I found this poem soulful and was left almost breathless after reading it. Living for the moment is a wise choice, and you've captured it beautifully. I especially liked: in the new dawn poets will still write, musicians will still sing and if this was my last message, even at the point of no return, I'll keep hope in a treasure. Your imagery was captivating...sorry my comment is disjointed...had one of those kinds of days.

Your Carpe Diem is so relatable. It reminded me of stream of consciousness writing, being aware of each feeling thought coming up into your state of existence. Humans fight against not being able to live-I know I did. Fought against taking myself out of existence, because I truly love being alive. Such a struggle. Every moment is precious. Yet I was also anxious about the worst happening, caused by repeated bad experiences. Hope is what keeps the future as an open door to tomorrow. (((Warm Hugs)

Is soul stirring, especially “ and if this was my last message, even at the point of no return, I'll keep hope in a treasure with silver ribbons wrapped around golden dreams,“ i can feel the voice and aura of a strong individual that has seen and tasted so much in life but is never giving up on dreams and keeping hope close to them. Living for today, as tomorrow is a mystery so well depicted and so well delivered! I loved this! Pleasure reading your work always. Sending you light
