Life's Laments

Are life’s laments to stay like set cement? Or drift away, like any passing day? How can I be sure how much to endure? Before I let it go, and let the future flow? With a silent moment’s thought of things taught A calming peace is caught, only if it’s bought. With reverent intent, remorse is spent. Let go and move forward with good intent.

Yes, God is willing to forgive, in fact, He forgave before you ever committed, and He knew you would commit the regret. You(we) just have to be able to forgive ourselves if not immediately in a fairly reasonable amount of time. Thanks for sharing this one and for dropping by my page. Sara

You're right, Sara, and forgiving ourselves is hard sometimes. Not forgiving ourselves is like insulting Christ and refusing to accepted God's gift. Thanks for the comments my friend. Hugs, Bill

Lament is part of life, my friend. But that's the reason why the good Lord created memories. So that we can, like so many expressed "Let go" Welcome back and I am happy to see and hear your wife is back too and recovering well. All the very best, Charlie

Laments, regrets, what ifs, maybes, if only - you’re a living thinking human being and these feelings are par for the course- reminders, sad as they maybe, to try and do better, not to repeat past mistakes. That’s life my friend in Texas. Great write.

A fantastic piece of writing. Regrets are inevitable in this life. Many get beyond them and others never do. It is time to proceed. I hope you have an amazing day.

So happy to see you back dear Bill and Sara. From some comments , I learned that Sara was not quite well . Glad both of you are Okay now. Occasional set backs are quite natural in life. Never let them drag us down. I too have quite a number of health issues. But faith in God, poetry and some other interests make me forget all of it. You have started on a clean slate with more resolve and optimism . Wish you both all the Best. Thanks for the many wonderful comments on my poem.

You are right with the message in this poem. I think about my own journey with depression and while I know its there, I refuse to spin my rutters there. "Let go and move forward with good intent." That is some rather wise advise.

So succinctly written, dear Bill! We all have laments--regrets--but we're not supposed to hold onto those forever. As you aptly said, in reflection we are to learn the lessons and let them go. We're not supposed to hold onto laments and let them weigh us down.
