Life With All the Colors
They were formidable, taking charge of my life
With a link of tenuous trust in anything or anyone
Leaving my heart brittle, but my spirit is immutable
So, I took a stand and stood by truth with courage
I faced my life with all the colors within the scene
Replacing pain with beautiful sketch paintings to see
In my interlude, I accepted I will always be bereft
Of unconditional love from those once closest to me
A family who fought me, as I learned to distance myself
--- To reply demurely – if at all ---
