Slight detour from intended poem - Happy Halloween week... (Morte e Vita Gustav Klimt)

Death, hover an anvil over my head I would like it quick, alive then stone dead Don't sit there like a mate Or some failed last date Don't try to woo me, we're not getting wed

Hi Dilly, I hope death doesn't come calling just yet, but if he does, your second line would be my choice. God bless you.

What a strange mood I was in the day I wrote this haha - it's all true though, well maybe not the anvil bit :)

I like this bold limerick of finality. If only death could speak of why it so often lingers. Perhaps it tends to procrastinate, such as myself. I'm with you. Get it over with.

A date with death no thanks, just get it done and over with, it’s a strange concept that death is only given meaning by (the living) does it even (exist) at all to the dead person, what a paradox! a fun Lim here Dilly, with just the right amount of dark sarcasm for Halloween, cheers David

We'd need a medium to survey those dead though - they may be full of opinions on the topic, it's all some of them talk about I've heard :)

Oh, the dark humor, exquisite. Klimts monster looks on incase one may resurrect and thud! Lol Amazing painting filled with every color of the spectrum, looks too like another medium used as well as paint, I'll research. Must have it. Great title and a limerick, smart for Halloween. I chose to do a narrative, too lengthy of a read. Good fun, Dilly.

Thank you Anaya - I did think it might be the least funny limerick I've ever done (although vaguely recall writing something about the Hulk's underpants for a prompt once lol) I was surprised I hadn't seen the painting before - it's got quite an allure

Artist, Dilly? What a painting to dissect. It's a mind boggler. Death wrapped in a blanket with crucifixes. A family wrapped in colorful quilts. Darkness all around except for the man who seems to be alive and grieving. I fear death will have him join them.

Or even just switching the light on and he crumples to the floor. Is he holding back the club not wanting to spoil the scene or about to revel in the destruction?! Tricky to decide.

The kind of painting viewed by 20 eyes and 10 different interpretations. Tomorrow I’d see that muscled man taking the skeletons club away and scattering his bones. Now I’ve gone dark.

Ahh it's Klimt - added to notes now. It was all getting a bit dark so I went off into a half limerick tangent. Maybe I'll return to it later. It's one of those poems that has several false starts I think...
