Just a Soul

You know it feels funny coming out of a box Shackled by chains behind a thousand locks To a wide open world that seems like a dream Not one solitary part of my life is now obscene I have friends I talk to that live all over the world Across thousands of miles our souls have been twirled They have twirled together in a wonderful dance Which binds the heart in a deep, spiritual romance Each of us live together yet we live so far apart You can’t measure distance, speaking of the heart An inch is a light-year somewhere out in space I reckon someday we will all find our place You know heaven is what I pray that place will be It’s very hard to imagine all the people we will see A place where all things will be put forever a side You can just sign me up boys I’ll go for the ride Death is just freedom from all that we know I wonder what it will be like, just being a soul -------------------------------------------------- I just want to say it saddens my heart to go from one of our top community builders for over two years to barely being able to sit long enough to post a single poem and make very few comments. I have actually reached the point where I'm starting to feel like Job who faced one test after another. This poem is how I feel about us, we are more than friends we are a poetic family and one day our souls will be set free. Always remember every trial is but a doorway to a blessing. One day our souls will meet and I will be proud of the friends I have chosen. God Bless you all, mj

I adore this poem. I want ot send Triston a copy with your blessings. he talks to me like he has known me all his life, he adopted me, and I have adopted him. He said he prayed for someone to care....he and my son are such good friends, he said he could see a glow in our faces....if you will send me your address in soupmail, I will send you money for 2 of your books. When I told him about you, he said he now has hope.....thank you my dear friend, always, Christy

"Death is just freedom from all that we know I wonder what it will be like, just being a soul"... Actually, I think your already know and are simply distracted by the tactile dimension in which were are presently occupied. I am alluding, of course, to the probability that we are souls having a human experience. Another great thought provoker, Michael. Very nice read... ~<><

Dear Michael, my heart is saddened for you. After two stints on disability, I can relate to your sadness as having to struggle to the do the basic everyday things. I feel comforted in the fact that you have your faith to get you through this tough time. This is such an inspirational poem. Hope to join you in heaven one day and see lots of The Soup family there too. Until then, we journey in this world despite the struggles. You have touch a lot of lives with your words. Karen

Do not let your heart be saddened, for there are too many who carry your heart in theirs. You are absolutely right when you say " Always remember every trial is but a doorway to a blessing." I believe this firmly. If all the love and caring of others could take your pain away, it would be gone. This is only temporary - hang in there. We have your back, the ones who love you. In my prayers and in my heart forever. Love you, Shar xoxo

A very well composed couplet. I like the thoughts you express. I think it is the way it should be. Ideally, the world world should feel like one family, but we are not there yet. I just joined this community and I look forward to read the poetry. The poet site I was a member of closed its door and a friend told me to try this one. Your poem is very inspiring to me. Thanks for sharing. Caroline.
