The wind blew constantly, Judas felt cold, cold outside, cold inside. He had betrayed his love. Could he make atonement? Show some self respect? Will love find out how deep his guilt was? Must he despair? He was truly lost. He sat down against an olive tree A rotten fruit fell. His despair increased. The Bible never mentioned what fruit Adam and Eve ate. Certainly it was not an apple. Biblical studies considered the olive trees as the most predominant in the Mediterranean. It could have been large and sweet. After the fall of Adam and Eve, the olives turned sour and shrank. So Jesus began his Passion in the garden of olives. All this is theoretical. One can believe what he wants.

The tree from which Adam and Eve ate was a special tree (or symbolic) prepared by God like the fish that swallowed Jonah. The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil still exists. We have that tree within us. We either do good or evil. We either follow God or Satan. I enjoyed reading this one about how Judas must have felt when he realized what he had really done. He was eaten up with guilt, wasn't he? Thanks for your visit. Sara

Judas, I feel sorry for, like a child trying to get attention went the wrong way.

Victor, an impressive poem and comment. I have always believed Judas was predestined, as God had this all planned from the beginning. If Jesus hadn't gone to the cross, then man would have been lost. Judas was a bad seed, as he was made for this purpose. Outstanding writing (FAV). Blessings ~ Debra

God allows for our meditation of sin, his creation, life, death, etc… Judas was apparently beyond repair, directly setting the course to the cross. His greed and politics over the Lord’s agenda led him to betrayal. He also was privy to the miracles and close relationship with Jesus but betrayed all of it. I enjoyed your poem and comment.

I believe that committing a sin is a type of betrayal of God. No matter how strong we are, betrayal is painful; it has the potential to immobilize us into a condition of everlasting hatred and indifference.

I don't know how people can live with themselves after betraying someone close to them. Judas filled with remorse took his own life. Tom
