In the Ocean of Despair

The ugly face of stress peeking out from under your skirt tearing the peace of just another day into pieces you can manage swallow or scatter The ugly face of stress when guards are let down you launch into the unfamiliar and cling to a straw in the ocean of despair (9/25/23)

Only one that has experienced the "Ocean Of Despair", could write such a fine poem on the topic, James. Thanks for sharing from your experiences through your poetry. I'm following your poetry now, I'll go back and read your earlier ones as I can. Welcome to Poetry Soup! I hope we can become friends through our mutual love of poetry. Bill

George Harrison sang that line on "Simply Shady" (from 1974 album DARK HORSE) - "No sooner had I sown it When I began to reap I was torn from shallow water And plunged into the deep And as I started drowning I clung onto a straw That somehow kept me floating While the madness craved for more"
