In Need of a Prayer
He was homeless it was plain to see
Down and out and at his lowest
In a sad state of indigent despair
There he stood a pathetic broken man
A shattered heart fragile most delicate
Defeated eyes crying sorrow unimaginable
An outsider would have to be harsh and obtuse
Not to be touched by such human tragedy
Not to recognize he’d been through devastation
Distress of the worst kind causing unbearable delirium
A pain egregious in the most agonizing way
How tragic that there’s no way to mediate
Between the sinister ghosts that haunt him
And any benevolent forces that beckon him
No way to consecrate this soul that seeks salvation
Lest say a prayer and bid him strength
