In Memory of You

I didn't have a chance to say goodbye,
to let you know how dear you are to me
and though my chance is gone, I still will try
the sadness that I feel won't let me be

You were a gentleman and caring friend
the words you wrote brought joy and brought relief
In verse you mourned your son's untimely end
You'd also lost your wife; you knew of grief

You also knew the healing power of joy
The jokes you wrote in rhyme would make us smile
And though your father's heart so missed your boy
You knew he'd lived a life that was worthwhile

I mourn your death, but celebrate your life
Your words live on in me, safe and secure
Your resting now, at peace from all the strife
You will be missed, my friend, of that be sure

I know the time will come when you will rise
All strong and glorified before the throne
We all will see that twinkle in your eyes
You'll get a great reward for love you've shone

Till time when I can see you face to face
And share eternity in heaven sweet
I leave you in God's hands, cradled in grace
while I look for that day when we can meet

In Memory of Tim Ryerson

This is a poem Tim and I wrote for a contest on Past Lives

We are Lovers
Throughout history, we are lovers
Throughout history, we are soul mates

We are Romeo and Juliet
We are Anthony and Cleopatra
We are Lancelot and Guinevere
We are Tristan and Isolde
Scarlett O' Hara and Rhett
Elizabeth Barrett and Robert
Pocahontas and John
Jayne Eyre and Rochester...

Blended inside one another
Melted inside one another

Two hearts are one
Two souls are one
Throughout the ages
Throughout eternity

Forever was
Forever shall be...

You and I
The sweetest symphony,
and if there were to be
another life
than the one that we now live,
I know your soul would find mine
We would be
the next world renowned lovers,
our names immortalized
in the books that will be written,
for a love like ours,
this passion we share,
defies the boundaries of time
It's a living entity
infused with heaven's light
and its longevity

You and I
We lived; we live; we will live,
for we are the embodiment of love
We ARE love
Personified
You and I
Love's sweetest refrain
Yesterday, now, and forever

YOU and I

Perpetuating true love in other realms, you, yourself and friend, life, if it lives on, your path I'll follow. And one day we might meet and say hello. Until that time, if ever, my congratulations for your joint poetic endeavour, for me a winner! Mick

He would be tooting his own horn behind this one Eilee! He'd absolutely this. He was such a delight ...his humor amazing even during sad times.

Yes we should live each day to the fullest. Sadly cares sometimes get in the way of living.

That's so true, Richard. I just can't believe that we have yet to learn how to show love and appreciation to those around us. I wish I had written to Tim before he passed. I left a message on his poem about his son on Facebook, but I should have sent a personal one. :( Too late now.

Heavenly tribute to a departed friend! I am certain a man that has suffered that much throughout life will be held in God's arms!

Definitely one of the best tributes I have ever read addressed to a departed friend and poet, Eileen. One can tell that this was written from the heart. ~ The collaboration poem with Tim was also a pleasure to read. Hugs // paul

He used to tease me and this collaboration grew out of a comment he had made on my Mistress May I poem. He was a sweet man, and I just have to trust that God knew best. Hugs, dear one.

Tim was once a close friend of mine and I didn't know he had passed. Do you know what happened? Very sad now, Eileen. Your poem is a beautiful tribute to Tim.

No, Carolyn. I don't know the circumstances. I recently left a comment on the poem he'd posted about his son on Facebook, but got no response. Time gets to us and sometimes we lose contact with dear ones. Tim was such a person to me. As Andrea mentioned, he was in poor health last year, but I thought he was on the mend from that. The Lord knows what's best, dear. Hugs

Carolyn, I emailed you about this. I thought I included you. Did you find an email from me about it? I knew he was doing poorly last year but thought he had gotten better. Very sad news when a fellow poet passes on (sad for us though, not for them)

I was sorry to hear of Tim’s passing. I did not know him well but he seemed a very thoughtful fellow. This is a touching tribute.

Yes, he was a kind man, Agnes. He wasn't very active on the site for the past few years, but we got his news from Facebook. I'm sad that he is no longer with us, but trust that He is in the Lord's keeping now. Hugs
