Important Things

As darkness descends, many lurking questions exist My mind holds hands with the moon in the sky, As my heart sinks into the depths of unknown places - I cannot fix what I see - I hurt, I cry, I fight against lies and hypocrisy My mind does not know where to settle There is too much at once to process So, I write as if the pen is my medicine Seeking, reaching, for a sense of settlement Life has always been hard - I know that - My purpose remains and my morals never change - But I know one thing for certain - TRUTH must reign or we are lost and attacked This means no denial This means having courage This means speaking This means taking righteous action This means uniting This means not giving into fear This means unconditional love Without these things, the path we travel is not authentic Without authenticity, our spirit dies, before end of life even happens! Heidi, I think your verse is one to keep to remind us that these values are the mainstay of our lives, and this is the way we are meant to live so we all thrive and survive. I hope we will see more of this in 2023, as it would help to make life worth living for all. Take care, Shirley
