I’ll mutilate my heart, that’s what I’ll do Cut out that piece that lives and beats for you, and then I'll simply wait and let it bleed Perhaps with flow of blood, I will be freed No suture will I use to stanch the flow The healing balm my heart will never know The part that housed my passion and delight Now torn away, it leaves a ghastly sight! I will not move, I will not even breathe Though all my blood in angry bursts may seethe I’ll wait until the last drop drains away And see if that will be my dying day My heart betrayed my mind, and this is why Unable now to love, my heart will die Eileen Manassian Ghali

I do hope this isn't your true experience, Eileen, though it seems so heartfelt:( a 7 for such a lovely heart breaking sonnet :)

It is the worst emotional pain on earth. My dear daughter is going to this kind of pain right now and so I can totally relate to this magnificent piece Eileen! It is poignant and gripping and beautifully written. I hope your new year is a beautiful one! Blessings, Connie ; ) 7

What a beautiful sonnet! This kind of heartache, so literal yet not? It's incredibly realistic, I am so young and haven't experienced that yet... and to be honest never hope to.

A sad poem yet filled with a quiet strength which gives me the sense the one whose heart is broken gave of their heart but not their soul.."in love one should never give their soul for it is the healer of a broken heart"..from the book of Frederic

Very good, Eileen, to many souls in the world that their mind feeds the wrong information about love. So sad I was one of those a very long time ago... Until my heart finally spoke. Happy New years and many more to come. Hugs Eve

Glad you liked it, Eve. We write of the happy, the sad, the scary, the bed, and the heartrending. It's all part of life. I'm glad that your heart finally spoke up for you. Hugs, dear one.
