If I Could Change the Past

I feel the challenge. Can I change the past? Only the good Lord knows, but I can try hard. And what can one do to achieve such a mammoth enterprise? Don’t you know. Only one thing suffice, an impossibility. I pray that I might be given a chance. Time creates a vortex and into the past I am sent. I shudder at the sights. All evil lay behind me, Murders, massacres, mayhem, terrorism, turbulence, strife, diseases, ugly like plagues, still born babes, Lyme Disease*, infections, dermatitis, blindness and so much more, so much more. Until I come to my destination. The garden is decorated with myriads of beautiful trees, flowers spread their fragrance enticing all sorts of flying insects, but no one can be seen. On the hill are two stately trees. No one is to touch the tree of knowledge of good and evil. But why? Such lovely fruit resembling sweet olives. I reach up and began to eat. A vortex of angry wind rises up. And I am back where I was. It is far best to think of the future, for the past cannot be changed. *unable to walk.

This is so provocative and deep, Victor. Drawing from your religious beliefs as well, it shows how strongly you think about things.

WoW! It's something to mull over and think about. If I could make just tomorrow a little different by doing something different today, Would I? Could I? and Why would I if I could? Would things be better? Would things be worse? Drop a pebble in a pond and watch the many circles that come about by that one small act. Food For Thought. Good Stuff here my friend. God Bless, JB

Our future is ours to change if posable. The past is just to view in our thoughts and wish it could have been different.

Hmmm, great thoughts you have penned here, Victor:) we can't undo what Adam and Eve did, but look forward to that time in heaven when we will be free from all diseases, pain, sadness and evil:)

Sometimes thoughts like this cross our minds-what if I could change the past? Though it's fascinating to ponder, alas the arrow of time points in one direction only! I enjoyed reading this interesting, wonderfully written poem, Victor. :)

Sad that you could not change the past but God had/has a plan and it is coming into the end part but of course I don't know when. We are all human with a free will and the tendency to do what is not right so we need a relationship with God through His Son Jesus to keep us on the right path. Your poem will help people to think. Thanks for the visit to my page. I appreciate the time spent there. Sara

Yes, it is better to look to the future. It is no use to live in regret. We should learn from our mistakes and carry that wisdom with us. Enjoyed reading your words of wisdom :)

Time, destiny, fate.., I think, have other dimensions of meaning beyond our humble thinking and understanding.. What is truly relieving is that we do strive in our journey of Life trying hard to push our demons from heart and mind, erase destructive past, fill the senses with quenching and soothing thoughts and feelings and relish in the very moments in time.. You have your own poetic power and artistry in conveying relatable mundane and spiritual concepts.. amazing poetry, Victor! A great pleasure to read you! My deepest regards and blessings.
