I Walk in Quiet Solitude A cardinal sits alone upon a barren limb within the confines of this wintry city park; I walk in quiet solitude while watching him as north winds blow and January day is dark, and wonder why we two must bear a life so stark.

The melancholy of your title caught my attention, and the poignancy of your lines carried your thoughts to fruition. The quiet solitude was embraced even more in that not even the cardinal had reason to sing. Very well written, John.
