I Let It Slip Away

I let it slip away - a moment of unconditional bliss! waited very long for this moment to happen! dreary years passed after I had to leave abruptly, never imagined separation to be so excruciating!  finally I found you, I met you at amber sunset...beside a dock - the gossamer light of vermillion dusk fell on us! you looked in my eyes...I at yours!  splurge of stardust enveloped those dreamy eyes with longing for a future! There were so many questions, not many answers! I remembered everything! all the fragments and tiny pieces of our life blended together! when soothing raindrops drizzled on two love-sick souls, when walked listlessly on sprawled fall leaves, stroll on winter-mornings blanketed by hazy mist....  The world stood still around us!  waiting for an answer! all hushed! I let the moment slip away...didn't realize the emptiness I would experience... I shouldn’t have! April 29, 2023 "I Let It Slip Away" Poetry Contest Sponsor: John Lawless

Powerful penning of lovely memories and dreamy moments. When we allow a beautiful moment to slip away, we may lose it for ever and regreting over it is like crying over spilled milk. Sweet poem with striking diction.

Thank you, Dear Valsa. Almost all of us unknowingly do this - let a precious moment slip away! Your comments inspire me to grab a pen. Love ~ Mala
