I Let It Slip Away
I let it slip away - a moment of unconditional bliss! waited very long for this moment to happen! dreary years passed after I had to leave abruptly, never imagined separation to be so excruciating!  finally I found you, I met you at amber sunset...beside a dock - the gossamer light of vermillion dusk fell on us! you looked in my eyes...I at yours!  splurge of stardust enveloped those dreamy eyes with longing for a future! There were so many questions, not many answers! I remembered everything! all the fragments and tiny pieces of our life blended together! when soothing raindrops drizzled on two love-sick souls, when walked listlessly on sprawled fall leaves, stroll on winter-mornings blanketed by hazy mist....  The world stood still around us!  waiting for an answer! all hushed! I let the moment slip away...didn't realize the emptiness I would experience... I shouldn’t have! April 29, 2023 "I Let It Slip Away" Poetry Contest Sponsor: John Lawless
