When I visited Grandma as a child,
I wanted to touch all her fragile things;
all that nice porcelain she had stockpiled,
all those flimsy things left me with yearnings.
I so wanted to touch them with my hands,
but Grandma said, "no, they are delicate;"
soon though, she gave in to my sad demands.
I held a sweet figurine then- PLUMMET!
It fell onto the wood floor and shattered,
it lay there broken into small pieces;
I was crying and could not say a word,
then, my Grandma was giving me kisses.
"After lunch we will go shopping," she said;
to the dime store for another and thread!
