Goodbye Dad

Dad I know you would understand We weren’t there at the last to hold your hand We had already said our last goodbye You are now with the angels in the sky Tribute to my lovely dad who passed away peacefully last night at 7.55pm RIP Dad we will miss you Jan xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 21st February 2015

Jan, to lose your father is to lose your anchor, your rock, I also did not get to hold my fathers hand in his last moments but the day before I had told him how much I loved him, not sure why I did that but happy now I did, beautiful poem to honour your Dad and I am sure you will write more in the future, that is the healing and thanks so much for visiting my poem, Oh the grief ...

This poem is going on the back of the order of service booklet - 'the crying candle' on the second page:-) Exactly the same thing happened with me - I saw dad the day before he passed - i had a fluy cold coming on the Friday so I could not visit - I am sur ein time i will grieve but at the moment have too much to do:-) Hugs Jan xx

I love reading the work of other's George it is the way I have learned so much in such a short period of time. i only began writing just over a year ago - it is helping me through the hardest period of my life:-) Hugs Jan xx

Thank you Emile I have been very honest about my dad ever since he was diagnosed in June. I penned this simple poem quickly on Saturday after I had told my son the sad news - I wanted it to be a final tribute to him:-) Hugs Jan xx

He was an amazing man Richard - he fought for freedom in Lithuania and was awarded a medal for his work in the resistance - all this has come out only over recent years - an inspirational man - my father:-) hugs jan xx

Oh, Im so sorry my very dear friend Jan. I know how hard to be far and can't hold our dearest loved ones for the last time. I experienced that when my dad needed to go back in God's hand. I only bid goodbye through phone. I'm very sorry, I can't hold back my tears upon reading your very lovely poem. I am sending you all my love and prayers my dearest friend. Thanks Eve - I got lots of hugs last night when we went to a dinner dance and stayed in the hotel - was just the tonic I needed to go out - dad wouldn't us to have sat at home and moped - life must go on. I am coping well at the moment am sure it will hit me in time:-) Hugs jan xx

Oh Jan, your poem brought tears to my eyes in thinking of your loss. I am sure your Dad is in a wonderful realm, but it is the loved ones that are left behind that need support, encouragement and love. He passed so peacefully Sandra - we could not have got there in time - it was his way of sparing us more pain - his wish is we don't go to the crematorium - thinking of us all even at the last - he was inspirational to the end! hugs Jan xx

Sweetie...my heart is with you. I know that God is encircling you and your loved ones in His arms of comfort. Accept my sympathies and hugs. You knew the day was coming...it doesn't make it easier, but I know you will find comfort in knowing he is no longer in pain. That is what helped me when my Mama passed away. Love you! PS Read Isaiah 57: 1 & 2 when you've got a spare moment...It was a comfort to me when my Mama passed away...
