Getting on my own nerves - two line quotes

Woke up and read David Kavanagh's entry to this contest. Then couldn't stop thinking of two line quotes and keep thinking of another every few minutes... I should actually have 1 more hour of sleep So far I have - The kaleidoscopic nature of truth Substitutes refrains whilst maintaining eye contact (Used this one for contest) If you stitch 1000 paper cuts The loss of life is in the unpicking Roll up roll up, every one wins a prize... The story of my lives Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery When authencity can be deemed contagious Echoes are lost In the deepest wells The striptease of the transpiring truth The pull of focus, to forget all other thoughts The concoction of friendship is spellbinding We all levitate unless we say the wrong words The truth that emerges in a eulogy Is that you should get a life (My daughter's are now awake and singing a song they made up about a chicken wing - clearly my children - this one then popped into my head) A chicken wing, essential to be a fully fledged chicken But not chickeny enough for a connoisseur (I fear I might be like this all day)

Ah your mind can come up with so many different quotes and this is proof of that! I would have written for that contest but well.. it is what it is! You chose the most unique take to enter the contest altho my fave amongst all is “The striptease of the transpiring truth The pull of focus, to forget all other thoughts” that… so philosophical! And thought provoking’ and i love the word strip t e a s e how youv used it there! Ah what i love about your quotes is that they dont emanate toxic positivity, no preaching, which i often see on social media too! Well your quotes are original! Pleasure visiting you today. Sending you light always

Well now I'm just glowing with pride haha :) I used to be able to write with utter freedom at the drop of a hat when I first joined the site, ideas would unlock with no effort at all. However over time, for some reason I find I now have to get in the zone. Criticism in the form of 'helpful advice' about limiting what I post possibly got a bit lodged in. However, this half sleep state seemed to just let it all emerge. I googled a few to check that I'd definitely made them up and not just heard them somewhere haha. You picked my favourite one! That felt quite accurate that truth is not fixed or constant a lot of the time. Thank you :)

Dear DD, Where do I start? I love how you capture the kaleidoscopic nature of truth because it’s such a poetic way to express the complexity of it all. The line about stitching 1000 paper cuts is haunting yet so impactful. It really makes you ponder the fragility of life and how every little action can have consequences. And I have to say, your daughters’ chicken wing song is the perfect cherry on top. It’s so much fun the joy and creativity that kids bring into our lives. I can totally see where you get your inspiration from! Such a Joyful Read! Spring Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

Bizarrely the minute I got up I ran out of ideas. Maybe I should set my alarm for 5:40am and see what I come up with haha. I think I got these as I was half dreaming and kept snatching things from the space and writing them down then trying to go back to sleep but my mind was playing with any word that popped into my head. These are a bit too similar to haiku. I think I'll cringe if I re-read them :)

You are certainly in the quote zone Dilly, any one of these would certainly hold their own in the contest, (leaving aside your entry) the eulogy one is my fav, with a punchline to die for, lol! think I will demand they use it at my own funeral, thanks so much for the nod in your intro, feels like I’ve created a monster today :) Cheers David

I’ll stand off to the side with a mop and bucket just in case, (you know pigeons) :)

Eulogies and epitaphs both fascinate and terrify me. I definitely want to vet my own. Maybe I'll go for "50% idiot and 50% genius, great improvisational dance skills, created the first occurrence of pigeon enlightenment by showing it a photo of itself (not to be confused with the cow seeing a painting of itself that happened first)" haha - or maybe I'll leave it to the experts :)

It wasn't any name I can find on Google unfortunately and I can't recall. Very different from creme brulee. The picture I took of the pigeon is in my Arc de Triomphe post. Unfortunately as it was rudely interrupted, no further footage was taken :)

Creme Brûlée? That’s delicious. Love the name of the sandwich shop. Sounds like a place to hang out for hours. One day I might get there.

Only ate one croissant whilst there, but I did also have 'pain au raisin' and some custard flan that I've forgotten the name of but was amazing. Plus a sandwich from a shop called "Those French B*stards" which delighted me. It was very beautiful and cultured, but maybe too beautiful and cultured. I had to get back to unattractive buildings that don't require looking at haha

Haha I'm home from Paris. Although filling free moments with random ideas is good for anywhere. (Paris is only an hour away!)
