Four Birds
red-vested robin cocks his head to hear his early breakfast stirring
no taste for worms the chickadee
is looking for some seed
he does not care it comes from me
he gobbles up his feed
and pays me little heed
swallows have returned
to their old nest on my porch
I had let it stay
they are such busy parents
they swoop and sweep mosquitoes
the woodpecker ignores them all
noisily searching for food in tree
