At 30,000 feet During any normal flight You sit relaxed after reading the pouch advertising And realize there is little or no sense of motion Only the engines causing a sort of mantra This sets the mind wondering Wondering about travel Is Boston to L.A. but a figment of universal mind? What with the drone of engines the closeness I sense heaviness My butt on the seat Then closing my eyes amazingly sense suspension Such a charming out-of-body vacuous state As though wrapped up softly by angelic arms Is this displacement of the rational mine alone? NO! Many even everyone has moments of complete evacuation YES! Suspended in space Just a dot on the map between Boston and L.A. And not just a dot A mind-warp into the infinite The infinite has so ordered time and space - A trip from Boston to L.A. - All was needed being simply unthinking acceptance This flash of this so recently gathered intuition opens my eyes A child across the aisle picks his nose The freak closes them once again Settling gradually settling......I'm out the window Into the billowing clouds! Then descending so gradually Until the whole Earth is spread before my universal eye Focusing Focusing so gradually On a single perfectly square plot..... In the center the perfect geometric center this farm house I'm through the exact center of the roof My transmogrified eye fixed...... A gravy spot on a dining room tablecloth

Ah Daver, such brilliance! I have had these, and have been places you would not even beleive...I love it. Yes, that drone/Om is the perfect mantra during the flight...although, I can do without the kid kicking the back of my seat or the werdo chatting me up in the aisle! lol excellent out of body experience, love, Kristin

Daver, this is awesome. Yes, my mind too will wander to incredible places, but NOT on a plane. I tend to be more like William Shatner thinking there is a gremlin on the wing. I wish I could fly, and I mean really 'fly away" when I fly, but it's just not gonna happen. I absolutely loved your freedom here to be so relaxed and open to the creative possibilities in the air, imagined or real! The last line, too excellent. Love, Shar

I love this! This poem is exactly the way my own mind will wander...taking me away to a place suspended in space....worded perfectly, so completely made sense to me...through to the end with the gravy spot on the cloth! Great poem! ~ Love, Carrie
