Embers

I sit here watching the embers, Admiring their smouldering glow, How through many cold Decembers, They have warmed me by burning slow! When I want to relax myself, I sit here watching the embers, Or take a book from the bookshelf, And chill with fanciful members! As long as my heart remembers, I love to see this fiery dance, I sit here watching the embers, And get lost in their blazing trance, Many times I've been lulled to sleep By their sizzling in Novembers, When crepuscular shadows creep, I sit here watching the embers.

Quite lovely, Joanna! And I'm impressed with 'crepuscular.' I'm trying to rhyme it in my mind. 'Muscular,' obviously... Tuskular, perhaps? referring to elephants... And how about 'Yuksular,' you know, when something tastes 'Yuck!' lol. Keep smiling, Gershon

Lovely pen Joanna, with good rhyme and flow for it brings back memories of growing up with a coal fire which glowed in the nighy. Blessings always,Gordon

Charming poem. My daughter has a fireplace, I don't. But when visiting I admire the slow embers burning.
