The night is a sharp pain A floor, covered in edges and knives strewn carelessly Air thick with unreachable screams cried in paralyzed mind Fragmented against an unforgiving wall Freedom is a stranger with arms as rope tied around night terror soothes broken things in fragmented thoughts come together Warmth wrapped around gathered parts put back to whole awakenes forgotten arousal *** June 2, 2017 Copyright © Darren White

Damn, you are so good. I could feel this one in the opening stanzas, the pain was so real, the sharpness of the knives, just the thought of a floor of knife edges...damn that is creepy. You have describe this nightmare eerily and hauntingly, which I suppose it was. A nice soft spot waits at the end. Really wild Darren.

This one ends well, I don't want to keep everyone including myself in agony :) The nightmares and -terrors are bad enough. Thanks my friend :)

Dear Darren. I have no words. May the wrapped warmth always be there. Both you and your poetic works are shinning stars. This is beyond. Have a wonderful afternoon. -- s m i l e --

The fear is finally refuge in love. Lovely to read you, Darren. Hope those night terrors leave you alone, dear.

I have taken medications in the past that caused me to have night terrors. Chantix is one and ambien is another. Very scary! Sorry if you have them, Darren. Nicely penned:)

Thanks Daniel, I need to take medications for other issues, and they cause them too. But I have to weigh the good against the bad.... And have learned coping techniques. Still.... horrible yeah.

I know what night terrors are like and yes, it is about learning coping techniques. Well done with this Darren :)

I'm with Anne-Marie on this , I've never had or heard of night terrors, but it sounds pretty frightening. Love the last part though where gathered parts are put back to make whole again. So glad for that dear Darren. .... Maria

It is very frightening indeed. It's working through it, but it takes a long time.

I've never had night terrors but this incredibly vivid write made me feel the sharp thick stifling pain that comes upon you to break you down. And I love how you transitioned us to the healing side that first captures, then soothes and finally makes you whole again. A fabulous write. 7 +:) Amitiés

Thank you, Anne-Marie. It's something you learn in therapy: coping techniques...

Thanks, and the word "nightterror" alone describes so well in one word what it is....
