Dignity(Face of Confusion)

Do you hear the silence? No, you are not here. Time was that the house was full of five sons, then grandchildren, now the blue glow of tele is the only sign of life. If only time will rewind for the five curly haired sons, and bring you all again to the rug with toy in hand. My mind makes up visitors to cover the silence or is it angels come to take me home to see my missing children. I have much to say when these strange old men visit me, they are not my young healthy sons. What has happened to the boys? I must make ready for their return, cook the food, buy school supplies put flowers on their graves. What has happened to the boys? I shall search until the angel takes me. For Liddian Culverhouse

There is a lot of sadness and almost a hopeless in this poem; but, the question of where the boys are makes you realize there is still a little left. Congratulations on your win! This was a very subdued yet powerful poem.

This poem is intriguing. It carries sorrow and pain of someone who have lost their children, perhaps prematurely? Much agony felt through the lines. So sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing. Caroline.
