Dieting (Lyrics To Tune of Yesterday)

Dieting. . How I wish my fat would go away, But my love handles are here to stay And so I just keep dieting. Torturous. . . Not an inch lost since it was begun. No reward for all the work I’ve done. Oh, dieting is torturous. Why the fat won’t go, I don’t know. Discouraging! It’s a long cruel wait. How I hate this awful DI ET INGGGG Dieting. . . Will I ever really be set free in this weight-obsessed society? And so I just keep dieting. Why the fat won’t go, I don’t know. Discouraging! It’s a long cruel wait. How I hate this awful DI ET INGGGG Dieting. . . I’m 9 sizes past a sweet size 3. How I wish my clothes would hang on me. And so I just keep dieting. . . So I just keep dieting. (fade out: uuuuhhhhggggggg) note: I am not really all THAT fat, but I AM obsessed!

Lol. This is so adorable, and yes, I sang it. I've always said I'd never reach 150 on my short, petite frame, yet here I am, gaining when I look at food. What the heck? What happens at age 40????

Thank you for the note as a disclaimer, but you have sucessfully described the frustration we all experience in dieting. I like your upbeat take on an otherwise delicate subject.

I lost 300 lbs last year and gained 325. Haven't seen my feet in ages. My wife said years ago she wanted to see more of me. She got her wish. There's a lot more of me. Gotta enjoy every freakin' moment. Vince

Hello Andrea Dietrich. You have a playful sense of humour and a self-deprecating hook that serves this light verse well. Made me smile - much liked, inventive. Regards. Tony.

Nice write. There's a saying "Lord if you won't make me skinny, at least make my friends fat."

LOL I bet you're a very cute size 12, not fat at all. But you're right about ours being a weight-obsessed society. In north Florida we have what we call "Wakulla Women," named after Wakulla County which is home to some of the largest women I have ever seen. Ironically, they are usually paired with very thin men and it's quite a sight to see! Great entry for the contest! Love, Carolyn

Your charming poem is a most enjoyable read. Most of us particularly girls not wishing to see themselves carrying several kilos of fat indulge in crash dieting program. Some times it helps when the dietor rigidly restricts calorie intake, rice and bread. U say U are not really fat. So, be happy and enjoy your food. I am dieting these days not for fat but for medical reasons thus depriving myself of all the goodies. Tks. for your encouraging comments on my poem My Departed Friends. - Mohammad
