Death

Listen to poem:
(English Sonnet) Somber as death doth pace about her room The sadness cloaks with black the loud silence Gone souls she’s loved wait there at her cold tomb The orb of death prepares silent cadence My heart weighted with words that go unsaid Whisper a hushed farewell, my last goodbye The sentinel, I wait, beside her bed For death to come and thus release my cry From there her eye one tear I see the sheen As each wave of her chest I wait the last Her breaths come now so deep and long between With one last breath the stillness she has passed I see her soul take leave in that minute The tears come now as death takes her with it. Poignant and powerful this beautifully sad poem be, Judith. Witnessing the precise moment of life passing to death is the ultimate solemn gray time-lapse experience. Such a great write. You took us to the pen edge of oblivion and back. Love and joy always.

Judy, such sadness expressed with poetic dignity. Your somber lines with their mournful tone and wonderful rhymes made your write feel very intimate to me. A beautifully written sadly emotional sonnet. Your recorded piece was awesome as well, the tone and cadence of your voice was perfect for your poem. Excellent and enjoyed both!!!

The recorded voice definitely enhances the readers experience, nice soft voice, matches the somber tone of the poem!

Can't comment on Iambic pentameter, I'm not good at it.. However this is a good sonnet.. it flows and rhymes well..

Wow really well done Judith, this is a great sonnet, although of course a somber theme, but very emotive.

I've now attached a spoken version of my sonnet. Please let me know what you think... honestly. Does it take away from the interpretation of the reader?
