Smiling girl on playground stock image. Image of child - 10354905

I felt like a ghost just the other day. Standing by the schoolyard where children play. Before I died, she was my little girl. Always smiling when I gave her a twirl. I felt so sad; I had left her so young, I never should have bought that stupid gun. I wish she could see me for just a while, She’s looking right at me, oh what a smile.

'stupid gun' alright -- not to mention the moron who pulled the trigger. Clever as ever, Bill

This is a heart breaking poem my friend, no child should have to mourn a parent.. especially so young.

I was thinking of a couple of people I know that lost a parent before they were 9 years old. I really feel sad for the challenges they had to face so early in their lives. Thanks for the comments, my friend. Cheers! Bill

Thank you, Clive. It's hard to write about such tragedy in young lives, but it was on my mind, so I wrote it. Have a great weekend, my friend. Bill

Dear Bill, your poignant poem has the power to reach deeply into the heart to feel sadness for the little girl without a dad, and regret for her dad’s decision to buy “that stupid gun”. Tender and impactful my friend. Warmest wishes to you and Sara for a merry Christmas and a happy new year.. ~Suze

They are, but if we didn't have guns, people would be stabbing people, and if we didn't have knives, people would be beating people to death. There's no end to the destruction man can do to others our planet and ourselves. A poet friend in Texas, Bill
