I looked out my window on Christmas day Flakes of snow falling no soul to be seen A carpet of white where settling snow lay Kids broke the silence with “Santa has been”. Downstairs I went paper strewn all around Their smiling faces a sight to behold Loud squeals of delight a beautiful sound A shame I thought that we have to grow old. Many won’t celebrate Christmas today With wars and terror and no yuletide cheer So do pray for them on this joyful day No peace for them only horror and fear. In our world today there is so much hate Lets all strive for peace before it’s too late. (gift for a lady)

Tom, your sentiment and mine are so closely related and it is an honor to see that you extol this sentiment in a way that let's the reader know that in a world of turmoil and chaos, there is love and compassion as well. You convey that love and compassion in this poem and others that you have written. Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas, my compassionate friend!

Hi Tom, such a wonderful sonnet. It is so sad that the world is as it is. Maybe one day things shall change, Maybe one day we can say this is our world, together, as one. A beautiful Christmas sonnet with such real content, such a vivid canvas painted by your flowing words. Myself, I am just a big kid come Christmas. I don't think I shall ever change in that respect. An excellent piece. have a wonderful end to tour Monday. Your friend always....Mike.

Thank you Lindsay, it's easy to forget sometimes that many in the world live in fear all the year round not just at Christmas. Tom.

Such a contrast, our Christmas and that of so many of the world. I wish we could find the peace and comfort for all. Well done. Joyce

Thank you very much Joyce, it is a shame that mankind has allowed things to become that way, we all need to put our political and religious differences aside. There are many that do strive for peace and hopefully one day it just might be possible, we can only pray and hope. Tom.

There are so many that suffer in this world and they are prayed for every time I watch the news and give thanks for not having to live in fear, hunger and sorrow. This is excellent Tom. Congratulations! : )

Thank you very much Connie, its very upsetting at times to watch the news, I often wonder why some are so full of hatred with their twisted beliefs' and inflict so much misery on others that do not share their views. It is a sad world at times. Tom.

There are always the people who do not get to enjoy the "spirit" of Christmas due to dire circumstances - it is just another day for them, but let's rejoice that we can all strive for peace before it is too late - in spite of our belief systems. If we could just all agree on peace, it would be tremendous!

Yours is a lovely poem written in a warm Christmas spirit, Tom. It is a pity that an occasion that ought to reflect love and peace instead is associated with hate and war! Regards // paul

Thanks Paul, how true is that, Christmas is uplifting and peaceful whilst the other is hell and death.Sadly I don't think it will ever change as mankind is hell bent on war and destruction. Tom
