when I was a girl
unaware of life and death
father took me to the park
to feed the ducks . . .
how, sweetly they floated to me
as father watched from a park bench
the ducks knew us and came without hesitation
how nice it would be to go back
to those days
to be again
under those swaying trees
where pretty ducks drifted
just me and father
and our favorite park bench . . .
I went back to that park not long ago
and the bench still remains
and lingering there I watched ducks drifting
remembering, remembering
days of long ago
and I imagined father
stroking my hair
as we sat on that park bench
in the dappled sun
