Buried Beneath the Lies

Take this love's chalice filled with passion's pain From crooked hands now clenched in your dark mind Its wormwood draught, it's less of bile that stain You spill and wash the earthen floor of time The rapture of this life cleaves from my soul As it bleeds on the darker realms of shades You plunged the knife that cut the rose, once whole Free my suffering heart, as death persuades This flower holds no breath forevermore Now drifting dark as does the setting sun Flee my world with shadows that I abhor As my heart dies, for its death is done A crumbled love found dead, lays in my heart Buried beneath the lies, as you depart 5/19/18 contest... Let your pen drip Theme... The rapture of this life words... plunge, suffering, rose, soul Sponsor...Broken Wings

Frederic, the dark tone and the pained texture of your aching poetic lines reaches deeply into my being. 'Take this love's chalice filled with passion's pain' - your opening line is breathtaking in its despair. Your potent pen does spill woeful ink beautifully.. Best wishes for a win ~Susan
