Breath of Spring
Welcome breath of spring with its flowered scent.
A daffodil dances and April sighs.
It is vain to wonder where Winter went
while the days are longer with clear blue skies.
Welcome birds that sing on warm golden morns
with a robin rising unto the sun.
Precious is a rose even with its thorns
as flowers are beauty for everyone.
Spring is God’s gift for Winter’s chilly scowl
to be breathed so deeply into the soul
that dons the spirit of a little child,
each May getting younger instead of old.
Breathe fresh on us Springtime, gentle and new,
virgin days dawning like sweet morning dew.
