Breath by Breath nee Sipping Coffee

“Breath by breath thus that my soul presence be chaste.” That first scented breath inhaled as sweet as e'er I have smelled. The first, the fine nonpareil, only lasts till death expel. Oh, that prime refreshing breath leading to ultimate death. I atone for sins unknown. A mere babe, my courage flown. A sip from the flowing Fount, living a life to surmount. With the angels as my guides, a chaste life in me resides.

It's cleverly wrapped by similar bookends. The Olde English style was evident for the piece, Linda. You made me realize that coffee is a blessing in "dis-sky's" haha! Hope I made you smile:D

I like your use of metaphor in this one, Linda. We should enjoy each experience / sip in life and choose quality over quantity to be chase. As I age, I realize more than ever, keep it simple ... most of what is important in life is given, not earned. Smiles ~ Blessings Bill

Your, and Duke's, comments make it clear we should be a little more introspective and reflect on any reparations to be made, and any blessings we have enjoyed. Thanks neighbor! :)

If you have lived a good life, that is something to be very proud of. I think I made a few mistakes in mine. I hope any destruction left behind was not irreparable. In the late stages as now, it's fun and interesting to look back and reflect while enjoying what's left. I love the metaphor you use for this.

I agree with Pangie Laf, this wondrous poem seems like you stepped back in time to write it. It flows so beautifully and the words you chose to me , reflect a time gone by, where pleasures were appreciated and valued far more than today. You raised my esteem for a humble cup of coffee. Accolades dear friend. <3

Hi dear friend. I like coffee as well, but probably drink more hot tea than coffee...preference...when I do have it, I want French Dark or an Americano. Elena is a sweet girl. Thanks for thinking of me!

Linda, your poem is a delicate dance of life's breath and the purity found in each sip. The aroma and taste described paint a vivid picture of embracing the fleeting moments. Your reflection on atonement and the journey toward a chaste life is beautifully woven into the verses. Sip by sip, you've crafted a poetic journey through the essence of existence. - Blessings, Daniel
