Bread
Water, flour, yeast,
butter and SALT!
It is so very basic.
It rises early and rests late.
You can make sandwiches,
toast with fruit jelly,
and…
toast from a foreign land. (French)
Lovely, grilled cheese,
held closely…
embraced,
sweetly by your comforting arms.
Burned with ketchup for my son.
Oh, and those that know who you are.
The makers, the bakers,
the politicians that talk.
Break bread between yourselves,
make peace.
The simple loaves,
A true miracle performed…
Fed, the greatest of masses!
Come close and hear his words
they are still…
fresh as bread... made daily.
