Book Store

I’m in Barnes and Noble One day after New Year It’s crowded Most people shopping a book store for the first time… People who seldom read anything but magazines Unless they’re students Students of course are forced to read Well it’s the sale! 50% off a number of items nobody wants anyway But then there’s something grand about being surrounded by the greats – Twain Shaw Hardy Hemmingway I come in B&N often Have coffee and a cookie Write poetry watch the infinite variety of faces If you study faces and figures closely It’s easy to fall in love Easy to fall in love with strangers Strangers are like your pets Completely innocent God forbid you should happen to strike up a conversation If this should happen faces change Like triggering the remote on your T.V. set All becomes normal SNAFU!

This is delightful and charming and just loaded with incredible imagery and TRUTH!!! Why indeed that happens is a shame and I suppose just the sad way our society is these days, fearful and selfish. Bah humbug! Still, its the little things isn't it - awesome write Daver. What a lovely comment you left me - made my day in fact. I thank you - you are very special Warm hugs, shar xoxo

Good write ,daver. I love watching people; in the mall; in the bookstore; in the airport; except that one guy in the mirror...keeps looking back..and usually needs a shave...weird.-Robert

Got a good chuckle out of this one. I've written a few things in Barnes and Noble myself though I usually go there to look at all the books. I'm an avid reader. My bookshelves are bulging. I can really relate to this one. Thank you for sharing it with us and for your ongoing encouragement. Keep on writing!!!!!! Karen

hahaha, having to speak to those delightful strangers , yes it can destroy the illusion. I do so love a good sale day at Barnes and Nobles and can totally relate to this well written poem about sitting there observing and writing down one's thoughts. Luv, andrea

I love this.....it makes me think of my husband, who spends every chance he gets in Barnes and Noble! He drinks his Starbucks..browses the books and people watches, ...while I go merrily shopping the day away!! That way, we are both happy!! :)
