when we're the very essence of a thing strangulated to shed the extraneous released to float freely without entity making us dull or brittle would we strip away the entirety of thought willingly forget whether we ever flew or had feathers to merge as no matter in the comforting void needing nothing else resting perfectly unfinished

Hi DD, you look at a painting or piece of sculpture in your own unique way. In this sculpture, all the extraneous forms like feathers and wings are eliminated, it simply shows just a body's upward thrust showing only the essence... the desire to fly upward. It is an unfinished work, open to any interpretation according to the whim of the onlooker. 'in the comforting void', 'resting perfectly unfinished'.... phrases like these add so much depth to this work of art.

Thank you for taking some time with my poem and the art work that intrigued me Valsa. The artist created many versions of the same image - perhaps there is a lot to absorb about capturing the essence of anything as it varies moment to moment. The bird's only desire would be flight until it tires. I think capturing whatever state is the unthinking flow state where the subconscious leads must be the answer somehow. Thanks for stopping by x

I like your poem and the photograph. Simplicity always seems unfinished . I guess that's why we're attracted to it. I enjoy the way words provide a table on which to display the artwork.

Thanks Hilda, I tried to write it almost as a meditation of shedding meaninglessness to the point of purity, but with no promises. Thanks for your comments, simplicity is compelling for sure.

Whoa, this could've been a shape poem as well. I see an eagle rising, but birds are my thing these days so i'm seeing birds. It is well known that they evolved from dinosaurs, your thoughts reminded me. 1857? again whoa lol.

Thanks Anaya, I think these were made in the 20s - 40s. Maybe it's the feather from Radio Heads Creep finally landing :) I feel there's a lot about soul or consciousness in here, seeing things for what they really are for the split second it's possible to do so. (I used my raindrops shape poem for the contest) Thanks for your comment x

An extremely difficult piece to portray in words Dilly, but not for you! There is something inherently timeless and weightless about this sculpture, I mean knowing when its finished is a powerful thought in itself, but you raise the stakes and say it rests perfectly unfinished, capturing the essence of merging in the void, beautifully written as always, cheers David

Thank you David, I kind of love the bravery of artists, making things that make no sense at all in many ways and could be the emperor's new clothes etc. yet, there is something about the concepts presented and they do seem to embody something more than randomness that worked out. The essence at the centre of everything seems like a thought that cannot be held long enough to be visualised, maybe that's the answer. Thank you for stopping by, I appreciate your insightful words.

Gosh! So deep! This is again one of those poems you need to print out and get it framed! Your philosophical way of thinking is evident through this poem. I really love the flow and also how youv written “ would we strip away the entirety of thought willingly forget whether we ever flew or had feathers” wow! Exactly!!! Nothing of that sort eventually matters really. “ resting perfectly unfinished “ how do you come up with such lines! This is impeccable! A new fave for me and all for the artwork too! Absolutely love this! Pleasure reading this gem so deep

You're so sweet! This comment made my day :) I was sat in a trampoline park with screaming children everywhere, so I'm not quite sure how I managed to get in the zone lol I read a critics review of the sculpture about it being the essence of the thing rather than the external appearance and had also been reading Paul Willason this morning, which likely added a layer to my thoughts. A fave! Thank you :) haha I'm imagining my hall now with all my poems framed with little rosettes on the faved ones lol thank you for your supportive comments, appreciated :)
