I was gift wrapped a white girl, born into the white privilege race; I have always known my social place, advantages for me will always unfurl. I have always known freedom, to move, work and speak; for me life is awesome, because I am white should I be meek! Oh yes, I have known the other side of discrimination, but let me tell you- for my family I have great admiration. Should I say- I am sorry? My ancestors came with nothing but hope, they did not know the language of the country; but learned so they could cope, no one gave them anything; they worked hard without complaining. My parents had a good life, mom was a hardworking housewife; For being white, I tell you that I am not ashamed, for being born white should I be blamed. Yes, I see that for non white races it can be bad, but it is not my fault- so why am I sad? ________________________ January 18, 2018 Poetry/Rhyme/Being White Copyright Protected, ID 18-9835-38-01 All Rights Reserved. black, white, red, yellow, or brown....we all have a heart with that beating sound....none of us is better, yet so many of us are worse....injecting the world with hatred, that is our curse....but with Love, all can be saved....just ask yourself why did Christ Give The Life That He Gave....bravo bw....bravo....;)

It's a daily conundrum for all of us, white privilege...if you're born with it, is it your fault...good question, compassion for others suffering, it's always good to feel that even if it's not our fault. Enjoyed immensely!

Perhaps your sadness comes because discrimination is not part of life.

And that last line... I felt that in my gut. Well penned Constance. I'll be surprised if this doesn't do well in the contest. My best to you! xomo
