-Bed How I Love Thee

Bed how I love thee
Let me count the ways ….

Always ready when I am sleepy
And in need to rest my weary bones
You keep me warm and cosy
Are the best company when l feel alone

You comfort me when I am unwell
Help me to mend and heal
Are there when I need to escape the world,
When life's worries and woes I feel

When nature is raging outside
You make me feel safe and secure
With my head under the covers
You protect and reassure

I share you with the one who holds my heart
You have watched my child grow
Many tears and much laughter you have heard
Private thoughts and discussions you know

You are a great keeper of my secrets
You know the real me
Supportive, available and inviting

Bed how I love thee ……

Beds should have protective status. Oh, and people shouldn't be allowed to shout, if you don't get out of that bed I'll brain you.

We both are in love with our beds, Deb. It's my Refuge when life gets too much. Love the way you wrote this based on that famous line from the bard. Thank you for sharing and for your visit to my poem. Blessings.

I adore this, the parts about storms, when sleepy which for me is not only nightly but 2pm most days since 30, being unwell, holding the man of your heart, your child cuddling (not your words but where I went) - all resonate so much that I can't believe I never thought to write about it. Maybe because I've moved so much I no longer know which bed I have, from which past life or is it from the time I lived my Mama. EXCELLENT write, loved it ... CayCay

Happiness is a duvet’s warm embrace…Blimey… That was almost poetic! Actually, I grab ‘me’ time in the very late hours of each day, so while I’m often reluctant to go to my bed…. I’m always reluctant to get out of it!. Enjoyed your creative bedtime story, Deb. Terry
