Because of You

Today, June 26th, I celebrated my Anniversary with my Beautiful Wife and wanted to share the newest poem I wrote for her. We were married 42 years ago today, which was the beginning of a lifelong love journey with my Soul Mate. Over the years she has gotten around 80 poems devoted to her.

Because of You by Daniel Henry Rodgers Because of you- My heart has found its way... At Messiah's halls in a youthful haze, by a bridge made of locust and oak Our hearts were entwined in love and grace. Your blossoming faith illuminated paths I never knew. Rebirth for the first time, my spirit rejoiced. My love, the years have flown like a gentle breeze. Each day with you, a gift beyond compare. Your smile, a balm that sets my heart at ease. Your touch, a comfort sweet and cherished, so very rare. Because of you... I touch the Sun – your warmth in every ray. Fly me to the Moon on love's sweet wings. Walk among the Stars where dreams hold sway... Just the way you are, oh, my heart's pulsating delightful days. My Lady, My Love, in your eyes, so bright and blue, I am a knight in shining armor. To thee, I’ll be true, defending our love through day and night. Let every heartbeat Declare: I... LOVE... YOU! – with all my might! Because of you++ Our journey of forty-two years counts strong and pure. Our three daughters, three sons-in-law, our kin and then. Our granddaughters' laughter, memories secure, for in love and faith, our hearts forever begin to beguine within. Together, you and I will tango through life's grand and challenging chores – for in you, my dear love, I've found life's most precious prize. My blessed wife our love is heavenly eternal – reaching to the boundless shores and endless skies. Because of you... My wife is my true treasure here on earth, which is not to say there is no difficulty from time to time. But the continuous building and repairing just strengthens us. Daniel, a second comment: you set the standard of affection for all married folks. I am coming up on 47 in October and I completely understand what you say here. There are a few of us who are indeed very lucky. BTW, I read your poem to my wife and we both really enjoyed it. It speaks to the noble soul you really are!

Hello Duke, what a great honor you have bestowed. I am so happy that you have 47 years and I have much more to look forward to. My wife truly is the best thing that has ever happened to me. We are now into retirement planning, which should take place next year by this time. How lucky she is to have such an adoring husband. Eighty poems devoted to her. .. I feel it is a love like that of Elizabeth Browning and Robert Browning or the love between Dante and Beatrice, but of course happier. Daniel, First of all....CONGRATULATIONS. Many people can't stay with the same person or make the compromises that successful married life entails. The fact that you have written so many poems dedicated to your wife indicates a great deal of how you feel. I see the pride you have and it is not underserved. You are a role model to all!

Dear Duke, thank you for your congratulations! When we first meet our spouses, we have many dreams about how life should be lived and discover that those dreams morph into more mature ways of thinking and loving. If one cannot make that transition, it is hard to stay together because of opposing ideas of life. I do a great deal of marital counseling and I can see firsthand how the dreams were so different and sometimes unreconcilable. - Blessings, My Friend, Daniel

Dear daniel, the title made me think of the song “ because of you” a beautiful song, and then i read your poem and im in awe of the lov youv expressed her in such an eloquent and poetic manner with a lyrical touch, depicting how she sees you as well as how you perceive her despite so many years of being together.
